ESCUELAS CHILE PROGRAMME

The Escuelas Chile Programme in Latin America and the Caribbean is implemented through the partnership between AGCID, under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and CIAE from the Institute of Advanced Studies in Education, part of the Universidad de Chile.

The primary objective is to promote a community of cooperation between the Chilean government and schools linked to the country throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. By fostering integration, communication and joint work with these schools on a permanent basis, the programme provides greater educational opportunities for children across the region.

This initiative helps to raise the educational standards of the students in these schools, therefore contributing to the fulfilment of the proposed Sustainable Development Goal 4 of the United Nations 2030 Agenda, which seeks to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.

The objectives of the Escuelas Chile Programme are as follows:

– To promote integration and cooperation between the Escuelas Chile schools in Latin America and the Caribbean and Chile, and with each other, and thereby broaden coverage and share teaching and learning experiences with teachers and school administrators across the region.

– To provide diverse opportunities for the educational development of children and young persons from Latin America and the Caribbean who attend schools linked to Chile.

– To strengthen and expand training opportunities for the professional development of teachers and school administrators from Escuelas Chile schools.

Participating countries

Argentina, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay and Peru.

How does it work?

Through the provision of training opportunities for management teams and teachers from participating schools, in person and virtually, with the aim of generating a learning and collaboration community for school improvement. This is achieved by strengthening the professional development of teachers in Escuelas Chile schools across Latin America and the Caribbean.
